Strong Towns is a nonprofit that helps give citizens the knowledge and tools to make their cities better due to the post-war North American development patterns that we are currently see (https://www.strongtowns.org/about). One way that Strong Towns supports citizens is to provide a team to analyze bicycle and pedestrian crashes that occurred in their city. Larry Mason, from BASC and the HUBS Coop, wanted to analyze what happened when Joshua Gurley was fatally struck on June 7th, 2021, while riding a bike on University Drive in Huntsville, AL and what can the City and citizens do to prevent more incidents on this street, which is also known as highway US-72. The Strong Towns Crash Studio Analysis Panelist included two BASC members, Dario Gonzalez and Ben Payment, Toole Design’s Civil Engineering Practice Director, Melany Alliston, and the Director of Community Action at Strong Towns, Edward Erfurt. The Crash Studio Analysis can be viewed on the Strong Towns website here: https://actionlab.strongtowns.org/hc/en-us/articles/18758520484756-Session-Recording
